How to care for flowers
At Lady Flora, we believe that proper care is key to extending the life and enjoyment of your flowers. Here are some simple steps to help you make the most of your floral treasures.
1. Unboxing Your Arrangement
Upon receiving your floral arrangement, carefully remove it from its packaging. Gently unwrap the blooms, taking care not to damage any petals or foliage.
2. Fresh Water and Clean Vase
Fill a clean vase with lukewarm water. For optimal hygiene, wash the vase thoroughly before using.
3. Trim the Stems
Using sharp, clean scissors or shears, trim about 1-2 inches off the bottom of each stem at a diagonal angle. This helps the flowers absorb water more effectively. Remove any leaves that may be submerged to prevent bacterial growth.
4. Water and Nutrition
Place your flowers in the prepared vase with fresh water. Add the flower food provided to promote longevity and keep your blooms looking their best. Arrange your flowers in a way that allows them to breathe and prevents crowding.
5. Regular Water Changes
Change the water in the vase every 2-3 days to prevent bacterial buildup. Be sure to re-trim the stems slightly each time you change the water. Mist delicate flowers and foliage with water to maintain their freshness.
6. Ideal Location
Display your arrangement in a cool, well-lit spot away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat sources. Avoid placing flowers near fruit, as some fruits release ethylene gas, which can accelerate wilting.
7. Remove Ageing Blooms
As flowers age and petals begin to wilt, remove them from the arrangement to encourage the energy of the plant to focus on the remaining healthy blooms. For roses, gently remove outer petals as they start to wilt to reveal fresh petals underneath.
8. Enjoy Every Moment
Take a moment to appreciate the beauty and fragrance of your flowers. With proper care, your arrangement will continue to brighten your space and your mood.
